Dental Implants in San Diego

Let Cosmetic Dentistry Center of San Diego bring you through the dental implant process from start to finish with excellence. Our downtown San Diego dental office provides dental implants to people from all over San Diego. Patients are saying extremely positive things about working with Dr. Hornsby for dental implants, and we are confident you will too.

What is a dental implant? A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a specialist places into your jawbone to support a tooth replacement or a bridge. Implants are made of 99.99% commercially pure titanium, which becomes a part of your bone structure to attach teeth to.

After your implant body heals after surgical placement, usually 2 to 3 months in the lower jaw, or 4 to 6 months in the upper jaw, we make impressions or molds will be made of the implant and nearby teeth. These molds will then be used to custom fabricate prosthetic teeth for you. These teeth will look and feel like natural teeth, you will forget that you have a prosthetic tooth.

Studies have shown that once integrated, dental implants last many, many years.

Implants not only replace teeth, but also replace the confidence in your smile. Chewing, Speaking, Smiling are all tooth related benefits that implants may restore.

Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling; you may forget you ever lost a tooth. Under proper conditions, such as placement by a specialist and routine periodic maintenance, implants may last a lifetime.

Am I a Dental Implant Candidate?

The ideal dental implant candidate is in good general and oral health. Your jaw needs adequate bone structure to support the implant.

Because some medications affect the healing of implants, full disclosure is necessary. Our Dentists will completely review your health record with you before making the decision to place implants.

Dental Implants are intimately connected with the jawbone surface and gum tissues in the mouth. Adequate records must be taken before a proper diagnosis is made. Molds will be taken to determine the ideal placement of teeth on top of the implant body.

An oral surgeon is the most qualified specialist for placement of an implant. A Prosthodontist directs how and where implants are placed in order to achieve the ideal outcome.
